What is a dofollow and nofollow link?

Share at Facebook

Dofollow and Nofollow is strictly related with Search Engine Optimization(SEO). Most of the SEO guys used to find the Dofollow links allowed sites, and try to add their link at those sites. This will help to boost the backlink strength from the search engines like google, yahoo, msn, etc.

What is a Nofollow link?

When putting a hyperlink at your webpage, or blog, it can be like below.

<a href="">bla bla bla</a>

But you can add nofollow inside your hyperlink so that the search engines will not follow link while indexing the site. A nofollow link can be as below.

<a href="" rel="nofollow" >bla bla bla</a>

See? I have just added the rel="nofollow" inside the hyperlink. Which will make spiders from search engine not to count as backlink.

What is a Dofollow link?

Absence of having the rel="nofollow" inside the hyperlink is Dofollow. Actually there is nothing exist about dofollow. Its just came as opposite of nofollow. But you'll not find dofollow inside any html source code.

How to find whether a site is dofollow or nofollow?

If you want to know whether the site or the blog type, just view the source code of the page, and try to locate whether there are any code written like rel="nofollow" inside the hyperlink. If the source code has such code line, you can safely assume that the site is nofollow type. And adding your link will not boost your backlink count.

But if you see there is no rel="nofollow" inside the source code, then its dofollow type of site, and you can safely put a comment with your site link there. Which will count as a backlink for your blog or website.

But one thing for sure, I don't bother about nofollow or dofollow while posting comment on other blogs. I'm not worrying about the pagerank. My concern is bring traffic to my blog.
